The Swan Bench

Aye Aye landlubbers
5 or 6 years ago we developed a method of "brocante browsing" which involves us wandering about at different speeds and in different directions, and then meeting up near the front again to discuss anything seen that we might like.
If we have agreement or one of us can argue the case for the purchase for the good of the renovation project somehow, then we buy what has caught our eye.

We bought this beautiful old bench about 5 years ago after using our technique in a borcante up near Dinard and meeting at the door and both said together "swan bench".
The swans are cast iron and each must weigh in excess of a hundredweight.
The wood is teak and although the whole thing was a bit tatty when we bought it, MrsB has always said she would bring it back to life.
Here is the result of her efforts.

It is up against "Shed 1" because it is our morning coffee and lunch spot as it catches the sun and is protected from any breeze from the fields behind.

  1. Insulation and intuition

Our tale winds slowly 'twards the end
But not before a journey of Chaucer-esque design
A simple voyage of insulation to ship, to shape, to bend
After a devious route of ferries, tacking thrice, 'cross the brine
Much travelling; first west, now east, finally south
The effervescent Mr B should have gone to Spec Savers or rented 'lectric
But a man with a van and a winning smile pumped her out
And he sailed onwards; man on a mission most hectic.
With memories of winter sun and another journey fading
Accompanied by the ever-fragrant Mrs B.
A new restoration on the horizon; sky-blue and flaking
The '59 D22, Monsieur Harry Chuffer to you and me.
So our meandering circumnavigation is now complete
A home is born, beguiling, be-roofed, replete.

  2. Another gem form the anonymous poet however I have to say that project is a very p long way from "replete"
I am sure you will have plenty of more opportunities for some more poems.
A Just wait till you see number two project,
